West Fork of the San Jacinto
The West Fork of the San Jacinto River originates seventeen miles west of Huntsville in western Walker County and flows southeast ninety miles through Montgomery County to its confluence with the East Fork of the San Jacinto River on the northern rim of Lake Houston in northeastern Harris County. The river was dammed in the early 1970’s to form fifteen-mile-long Lake Conroe in Montgomery County. This waterway eventually makes its way to Galveston Bay.
Houston Parks Board’s focus along the West Fork of the San Jacinto includes creating a connection that will bridge the gap between multiple waterways and adjacent hike and bike trail systems in this northern area of Harris County.
