PROJECT PROGRESS

This 23-acre community park on the Eastern periphery of Greater Heights is vital to the Brooke Smith neighborhood, the last remaining predominately Hispanic community in the Greater Heights.
The Montie Beach Civic Club’s vision is to ensure that the park represents the community it serves and is a family destination for all Greater Heights residents. The Civic Club raised the necessary funds for a Montie Beach Park Master Plan, developed in partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department with Houston Parks Board serving as the project manager and Asakura Robinson providing design services as the Landscape Architecture firm.
To view the materials associated with the master plan, see below:

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Community engagement is at the heart of Let’s Play Houston to ensure improvements are responsive to the community’s park needs. Houston Parks Board partnered with local civic organizations and the council district office to gather feedback through a survey and various events in the neighborhood, including a community listening session at Montie Beach Park Community Center on June 12, 2025. Planned improvements were informed by the feedback received. Special thanks to all who assisted with this effort.
