Let’s Play Houston is a collaborative initiative led by City of Houston Mayor John Whitmire, Houston Parks Board, and Houston Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with companies, foundations, and private donors, to revitalize 25 neighborhood parks.

PROJECT PROGRESS

The proposed improvements to Pumpkin Park are intended to enhance accessibility, connectivity, and recreational opportunities while creating a welcoming space for park users of all ages and abilities. Park design is preliminary and subject to change. 

Planned improvements under the Let’s Play Houston initiative include: 

  • Community center and restroom renovations
  • Relocated basketball and volleyball courts
  • Installation of new picnic area
  • Installation of new loop trail
  • Installation of new shade structures
  • Detention as required by City of Houston

Accessibility and inclusivity features include: 

  • New accessible site furnishings
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community engagement is at the heart of Let’s Play Houston to ensure improvements are responsive to the community’s park needs. Houston Parks Board partnered with local civic organizations and the council district office to gather feedback. Planned improvements were informed by the feedback received.
