The Friends of American Legion Park are committed to ensuring that this park represents the communities it serves and is sustained as a destination for visitors from surrounding communities. Together with Houston Parks Board, the Friends of American Legion Park raised funds for a master plan for the park’s development.

For the master plan, Houston Parks Board is serving as the project manager, and Talley Landscape Architects, Inc. is serving as the Landscape Architecture firm.

MASTER PLAN PROCESS

The first step of the master planning effort is to identify, evaluate, and consider the park’s current facilities, conditions, natural qualities, constraints, and opportunities. Outreach to stakeholders and community members is a critical component of the master plan process.

Over the course of six months, September 2022 to February 2023, the design team and Friends of American Legion Park will host an outdoor gathering and community meeting.

UPCOMING COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND EVENTS

There will be a community meeting in late January or early February 2024 for the community to hear an update on the master plan process as well as provide input on the proposed master plan concept. The concept will include feedback received through the October 15, 2023, open house and subsequent park survey.
