Houston Parks Board is excited to offer companies and groups volunteer experiences that champion the conservation of native plants and wildlife, support greenspace maintenance, and promote team building. Each event is tailored to your group’s goals and aligned with HPB’s needs, ensuring a unique and rewarding volunteer experience. Please review the details below before filling out the Group Volunteer Form.
PLANTING PROJECTS CALENDAR
- Nursery — Year-round
- Native Landscapes and Wetlands — October through March
- Prairies — October through May
- Forests — December through February
SCHEDULING
- We accept group volunteer requests 4 weeks in advance for nursery projects and 6-8 weeks in advance for all habitat projects
- Only nursery work is available May-September
- Most projects will last 2-3 hours
- All events are nonrefundable and paid upfront before event registration opens on VolunteerHub
- HPB will give a 24-hour notice through email for cancelation due to weather (lightening, thunderstorms, other hazards), and HPB staff will work with you to reschedule your event
- Please note that light rain and wind are still feasible for most volunteer events and will not qualify for rescheduling

GROUPS
- Minimum group size of 10 is required for all projects
- All group members must be age 18 or older
- Corporations must use VolunteerHub for event registration, and all participants must register individually
PROJECT FEES
- Projects vary in cost and fees will be determined after application review
- Fees include tool rental, port-a-let, and other necessities for the event
WHAT YOUR TEAM NEEDS TO BRING
- Close toed shoes
- Long pants
- Weather protection (sun/rain)
- Refillable water bottles
- We encourage corporate groups to supply their own breakfast or lunch on site
HPB WILL PROVIDE
- Tools
- Gloves
- Water refills
- Restroom access
