ONGOING

Are you ready, Agent? Visit all three of Houston Parks Board’s Agents of Discovery missions and discover nature nearby! We currently have missions live at Hermann Park’s Bayou Parklands, George T. Nelson Park, and the Park at Palm Center in OST/South Union. Download the FREE app onto your smart device, select a mission near you on the app, and walk along the mission’s trail to unlock and complete challenges along the way.

Please follow all local health advisories and CDC social distancing guidelines when completing these missions.

Bayou Parklands at Hermann Park is located at 6530 ½ Almeda Road between S. MacGregor and Holcombe. Parking is available near picnic pavilion, Lot P. If arriving by METRO, take bus route 11 along Almeda Road until you reach #9597 Almeda Road @ Dixie Dr. stop. Here, Agents can explore the banks of Brays Bayou and learn how different kinds of animals adapt to different temperatures outside.

George T. Nelson Park is located at 3820 Yellowstone Blvd, Houston, TX 77021. Begin the mission at any corner of the park. The METRO bus route 54 stop at Scott Street and Yellowstone Blvd is just across the street from the park. Agents can look forward to learning more about the history of the park’s namesake, George T. Nelson, thanks to the research and support by the OST/South Union Parks Project team.

Park at Palm Center is located at 5400 Griggs Rd, Houston, TX 77021 at the corner of Griggs and Beekman Rd. The METRO bus stop at Griggs Rd and Beekman (stop ID: 3571) and the Palm Center Transit Center are directly adjacent to the park. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day on January 18th, families can complete this challenge by exploring the park and uncovering the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This park is also the gateway to the OST/South Union Greenway, and agents will learn more about this new trail thanks to the research and support from the OST/South Union Parks Project team.
