Houston Parks and Recreation Department and Houston Parks Board have teamed up with Friends of River Oaks Park and community members to improve River Oaks Community Center and Park. Affectionately known as Pumpkin Park, it was established in 1938 on five acres set aside for the public’s use during the development of the River Oaks subdivision. The renovation will include updates to the park’s historic community center.

In an effort to gather input on the existing conditions and future aspirations of the community center and park, we encourage all park users to fill out the survey below.

There will be two more community meetings regarding improvements to River Oaks Community Center and Park. Please continue to check back here for posted meetings and also bookmark this page for easier access to update.


On Thursday, October 8, 2020, Houston Parks Board hosted a virtual community meeting during which existing conditions of the park were shown and aspirational questions were asked of attendees to help determine and propose future improvements.
