Houston Parks Board stands in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander colleagues, friends, and community members. We denounce the growing violence against Asian Americans during the Covid-19 pandemic and pledge to weave racial equity even more firmly into our work as we design, build, and maintain parkland throughout Houston. As part of this commitment, we have participated in The Highline Network’s Equitable Impacts Framework, a pilot project aimed at developing measures and methodologies to make our work more equitable and accountable, and established an Equity Task Force to focus on this critical work. As part of our mission to create, improve, protect, and advocate for parks for everyone, Houston Parks Board also strives to support equity by facilitating, advocating for, and collaborating with others to achieve equitable access, opportunities, and outcomes for everyone.
