wiess park

Home to the Houston Parks Board, 16-acre Wiess Park is a beautifully wooded park located just across Loop 610 from Memorial Park. After the departure of the Houston Police Department Mounted Patrol and Canine Units in 2009, the Houston Parks Board began beautification and restoration efforts for the park. The transformation started with site cleanup and reforestation efforts at the north end of the park, including the planting of native bird and butterfly species. Nature trails through the park were constructed with the help of the Student Conservation Association (SCA) in the summer of 2010. Future plans include further reforestation and butterfly/bird habitat planting, pavilion on the north end of the park, benches throughout the park and other passive park facilities.
