Hackberry Park, 7777 S. Dairy Ashford
Hackberry Park was purchased in partnership with the City of Houston in 2007 for $4.8 million. Houston Parks Board provided $1.8 million for the purchase and an additional $500,000 to make improvements to the new park.
Phase I improvements included: renovation of the old clubhouse building into a program center for meetings, social gatherings, classes and parties; renovation of the old cart storage building into an activity center for classes, games, programs and events; a new playground and H-E-B Water Playground; improvement of trails throughout the site; installation of benches; creation of a large play hill and open play areas; and tree planting.
Provided additional funding becomes available, future improvements could include: expansion of the ponds and creation of an island; additional trail construction and bridge building; installation of picnic facilities including shelters, tables and grills; construction of a plaza with tables and chairs; Activity/Program center additions; additional trail improvements; and tree planting.
