Lee LeClear Tennis & Learning Center (Braeburn Glen Park), 9506 S. Gessner, 77074

The Houston Parks Board is pleased to partner with the Friends of the Lee LeClear Tennis Center, Inc. and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department to renovate the Lee LeClear Tennis & Learning Center. Opened in 1973, this once premier facility is still heavily used and one of the largest tennis facilities in Houston.

The Lee LeClear Tennis and Learning Center is being renovated in three phases which are described below:

Phase One:

The old asphalt parking lot has been replaced with a new curbed, concrete parking lot. Accessible ramps and signage as well as LED lighting, landscape and entry way improvements were also included in the $681,797 Parks Capital Improvement Project. This project was funded through bond funds and Park and Recreation Dedication Funds. The project was managed by the General Services Department and completed March, 2016.

Phase Two:

The Houston Tennis Association provided funding for the resurfacing of 26 courts.

Parks Consolidated Construction funds in the amount of $204,000 are available to replace the court lighting with LED lights. The project will let fall 2016 and will be administered by the General Services Department for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.

Phase Three:

Phase three will include the demolition of the existing building and construction of a new two story building with three observation decks. The new building will provide areas for tennis personnel and a new Learning Center. Construction of a new drop off zone in the parking lot, rework walks, new practice wall, new fencing, new windscreens and new furniture are planned. Funds for this phase will come from funds raised by The Friends of the Lee LeClear Tennis Center, Inc., a 501 c3 non-profit. The project will be managed by the Houston Parks Board.
