White Oak Bayou Trails

Hunting Bayou Greenway

Hunting Bayou begins in northeast Houston and meanders east until it reaches Buffalo Bayou at the Houston Ship Channel. Along its journey, Hunting Bayou passes a diverse range of communities and neighborhood parks, including Hutcheson Park and Hermann Brown Park.

Through Bayou Greenways 2020, Houston Parks Board and its project partners are transforming Hunting Bayou into Hunting Bayou Greenway. Complete with open greenspace and hike-and-bike trails, Hunting Bayou Greenway will connect communities to parks, greenspace and neighborhood resources – and each other. There's plenty to do and see along the way. Discover super places along Hunting Bayou Greenway here.

Project Updates

COMPLETED PROJECTS:

• On July 24, 2018, Houston Parks Board - along with Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Harris County Precinct One and Harris County Flood Control District - celebrated the opening of a new 1-mile segment of Hunting Bayou Greenway. The new segment is from Falls Street to Pickfair Street. Along this new trail is a new pocket park at the intersection of Pardee and Leffingwell, which serves as a gateway to the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood. The Houston Parks Board thanks TxDOT for funding this project.

A future phase of the Hunting Bayou Greenway will pick up at Pickfair Street and continue through Hutcheson Park to a future Kelly Street Bikeway.

Maxey Road to Manitou Drive

The Houston Parks Board is designing a new segment of Hunting Bayou Greenway, with one section of greenway connecting from Maxey Road into Herman Brown Park (the western portion) and the other section connecting from Manitou Drive into Herman Brown Park (the eastern portion). A construction timeframe is still to be set due to the organization currently working on the trail route and alignment.
