Gulfton Skatepark at Burnett Bayland Park
Gulfton Skatepark at Burnett Bayland Park, 6026 Chimney Rock, 77081
The Gulfton area of Houston is home to more than 70 nationalities, making it one of the most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods in the country. Gulfton is also home to over 100 skateboarders that have one dream in mind, building a skatepark they can call their own. Through months of research and conversations, the youth of Gulfton have collaborated with Neighborhood Centers, Council Member Laster of District J, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and the Houston Parks Board to develop the Gulfton Skatepark at Burnett Bayland Park project.
Their message, “We want to be productive, we want to be good citizens, we want to be healthy and we need your help.” They see many young kids just like them that desperately need a safe, appropriate place to practice their sport and they want to be part of the solution. “With your support we can have a park that provides a healthy and safe venue for us to come together, practice our passion and create engagement opportunities for other youth to be involved and contribute back to their community.”
