Growing Bayou Greenways

2016 was a year full of celebrating! From groundbreakings to ribbon cuttings, we've celebrated multiple milestones for Bayou Greenways 2020.

Groundbreaking: White Oak Bayou Greenway

In June, we broke ground on a federally-funded segment of White Oak Bayou Greenway with Mayor Sylvester Turner and other city and county officials. The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) project connects the White Oak Bayou Greenway trail to the Buffalo Bayou trails and adds two neighborhood connections.

Anticipated completion: Spring 2017

Groundbreaking: Sims Bayou Greenway

We broke ground on the first segment of Sims Bayou Greenway in October! The segment stretches 1.8 miles from Heatherbrook Drive to Hillcroft Avenue. Enhancements to the area include new trees, landscaping and a trailhead at the future site of Blue Ridge County Park.

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2017

Ribbon Cutting: White Oak Bayou Greenway

A new segment of White Oak Bayou Greenway is now open! The 2-mile segment branches off from the Heights Hike-and-Bike trail where it crosses Studemont St. and extends west two miles along White Oak Bayou. This segment consists of numerous street and neighborhood connections as well as connecting to the Heights Hike-and-Bike trail.

We couldn't have accomplished these milestones without the generosity of Houstonians like you. Please consider Houston Parks Board in your year-end giving.
